Uncover the Dark Secrets of Witchland: The Graphic Novel - A Tale of Mystery, Horror, and Atomic History

Tim Mulligan, author of Witchland: The Graphic Novel has penned a graphic novel, based on his critically acclaimed play Witchland, that explores one family's eerie experiences in a town shadowed by a toxic nuclear site and a mysterious "witch."

Witchland: The Graphic Novel (Highpoint Lit, 100 pages 979-8-9879203-9-8 | paperback; 979-8-9897773-3-4 | hardcover case laminate) is a riveting tale set against the backdrop of the Hanford nuclear project in Washington State, often called "the most toxic place in the Western Hemisphere."

In the 1940s the US Government displaced the residents of three small towns in Eastern Washington to establish the Hanford Engineer Works, a clandestine atomic bomb factory that shipped key materials to Robert Oppenheimer's Manhattan Project in Los Alamos, New Mexico. By 1945, the site had produced enough plutonium to test an atomic bomb and contribute to the creation of the bomb dropped on Nagasaki. Later the town encompassing the site was named Richland and grew into a bustling community of over 51,000 workers, complete with schools, recreation halls, and stores. However, in the 1940s and 1950s the plant released significant amounts of radioactive materials into the nearby environment, leading to higher rates of cancer throughout the area.

This dramatically illustrated narrative based partially on my own experience growing up in Richland explores the aftermath of the project with the story of a family who moves to this town and the unexplained terror that surrounds them. Is it owed to the nuclear plant...or something more sinister?

Witchland: The Graphic Novel is a chilling exploration of a town shrouded in mystery and danger, and a testament to the human spirit's resilience in the face of adversity. Welcome to Witchland.
