That Bona Fide Hood Love: Gage and Marley

That Bona Fide Hood Love: Gage and Marley That Bona Fide Hood Love: Gage and Marley by Stephanie L. Partee
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Marley, a foster kid who is introduced to Gunz, who introduces her to the people who would soon become her family-Gage, Savage, Duke, and Sky. She and Gage have an immediate connection and genuine friendship blossoms. Over the years, their friendship turns to love and things change for them on her 16th birthday.

This story is heavy on the angst, character development and the message of familial bonds and light on romance and action. The author stayed on the fringe of drama giving you just enough to not lose interest, but not so much that it becomes the focus of the story. She took the route of focusing solely on the characters and their interactions. While I didn't particularly think that Gage and Marley were interesting as a couple, I did love the family dynamic on display. Granted my dislike for the couple could have been because Marley was not a likable character.

At any rate, this author is talented and delivered a quick solid read.
