A Moment with...Vaiccia Hamilton

Her name is Vaiccia Hamilton and she writes "romance you can feel". She is a native Houstonian. (Go Rockets!) Her love writing started early and the romance bug bit her as a pre-teen. She wrote poetry and love songs, which led her down the path of romance. Penning her first book Fatal Attraction, a two-part series, turned her dream into reality.

Her most recent release, Brown Eyed Lies, is available now in ebook and paperback.

Description: While pursuing her career, January Jones found love. And just like that, she didn’t have to keep up with the Joneses, she became the Joneses. Instantly becoming a stepmom and surviving baby mama drama that accompanied that, she successfully assisted her husband in building his career. But, what about her happiness? It was slowly turning into acrimony.
Ten years later and she was ready to renew her vows and travel the world. Her son is finally off to college, but she feels as if her marriage has left her too. How would you feel if you found your husband on a dating site? Would you swipe right or left after stumbling across his profile? With a vow renewal and traveling now seeming so far-fetched, what happens when you’re forced to formulate a plan b?
Aubrey Jones waited for what he thought was the perfect time to escape his marriage. With a kid no longer being in the home, he begins looking for some excitement by joining a dating site. Sprung from the very first click of a mouse, he’s ready for a divorce. Realizing he might have gotten married just to live up to his father’s dreams, he starts evaluating his happiness. Did he choose success over love? Does he really love his wife? Can he be with one woman for the rest of his life? One-click leads Aubrey to risk it all for a mystery woman.
One person no longer feels loved and the other is searching for something that he’s failed to recognize he already has. Can you walk away from your soulmate, even if that means losing a part of you? Hearts don’t break even, so who will have enough pieces to move on?
Q: When did you realize you wanted to be a writer? Or that it was a possibility?
A: As a child, I wanted to be a nurse/songwriter. However, that quickly changed when I was in the 5th grade and I started writing love songs. It ignited my passion for writing.

Q: Are you on set schedule to write or do you like to write when inspiration strikes?
A: Being a new author who also works fulltime, I can’t write a book in thirty days like the pros. I’m working on new strategies to complete a book in three months or less. My current writing schedule is that I don’t have a schedule. I don’t have certain times of the day set aside to write. I might write for an hour and start back later that night or pick back up the next day. My only goal is to make time to write at least four days out of the week. I like to write down everything with pen and paper then go back to type it. On the days I have writer's block I use those days to type.

Q: What inspires your stories?
A: My ideas for a new book come from real-life situations. A good story must be relatable, attention-grabbing, with a little bit of fiction. I watch a lot of crimes of passion shows and write down ideas to put my own twist to it. Social media can be extremely helpful too, every other day you read about something crazy/interesting. Love stories also inspire me. It’s so much you can do with a good plot and memorable characters. The most surprising thing I’ve learned in creating my books is you can’t please everyone. So, I write my stories my way and for my target audience.

Q: From your current catalog, do you have a favorite?
A: You know when I published my first book, I felt like I was on top of the world. I finally got to introduce myself to the literary world. I started writing my first book in my late twenties, however, It wasn’t completed until I hit thirty. I think your first book is always the hardest. But I just completed my third book which is also my favorite. I think this will always be in my top three even in the future.

Q: It can be hard for new authors to find their footing. What type of reception have you received thus far?
A: It has been interesting. I hear from my readers a lot, especially, when I release a new book. I have received more positive feedback than negative, even though the few negative reviews weren’t that bad. I love to hear that a reader enjoyed my work so much that they recommend it to someone else or share it on social media. I love to hear from readers. They can always reach out to me on social media or via email with reviews, questions, or just to chat about my books.

Q: How do you spend your downtime?
A: When I’m not writing I’m making candles or relaxing watching a little tv. I also have a candle business called Romancing Wicks. Either I’m writing or making candles outside of my 9-5. And while I may not volunteer, I am involved with foster care. My mom started doing foster care a few years ago and I have been involved ever since. I have five bonus siblings who I love and help care for. In my community, I also do my best to support small businesses every chance I get.
Q: What can we expect from you in the future?
A: You can expect more love stories with a twist from me. I write urban fiction, thriller and suspense, and African American romance. Once this pandemic is over, I can have my first book signing. Until then my books are sold on amazon or personally through me. My website will be available soon, but until then you can reach out to me via email or inbox me on Facebook or Instagram to purchase directly from me.

Q: Any last words?
A: I want everyone to know I am here to stay. This isn’t a temporary hobby; I have stories to tell and I want to share them with the world. This is my passion and I’m glad I get to share it with the world. Love never read so well describes my new and upcoming reads. Stay connected with me and enjoy my books.
