You Had Him, I Bagged Him You Had Him, I Bagged Him by Dymond Taylor
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

SYNOPSIS
Stronger in numbers, the Stone family has always been. Early on CaBrea, and her brother, LaKev, got a dose of what it was like to struggle. They went from a home in the suburbs to the projects, behind their stepfather’s illegal activities. As a result, he went off to prison, leaving their mother to pick up the pieces of their life. Never one to complain, they accepted their new circumstances and learned to adapt. LaKev and CaBrea both, had to fight along the way, being they were newcomers to the neighborhood. However, they adapted. That was made easier with their mother in their corner, every step of the way.
Fast forward seven years, and their stepfather is released from prison and back home. They return to being one big happy family. Or so they thought. One thing is unknown—Daddy is keeping a secret. One that LaKev soon finds out about. It costs him and his family everything, sending everybody’s life spiraling in opposite directions.
CaBrea runs into the last man on earth she should’ve crossed paths with. She thought she struck gold running into the sexy and hood, love doctor, Denih. But, he’s anything but gold. Denih is arrogant, self-centered and most importantly, paid. With money comes women, and Denih has plenty. They’ve all had him in more ways than one. But will CaBrea be the one to bag him?

BOOK REVIEW
I think the story moved well. It opened strong and pulled me at the beginning, lost me in the middle and pulled me in at the end. I was a bit confused as to when the dad came home. The most interesting storyline was relegated to the back burner and didn't make an appearance until the ending, a cliffhanger. The positive is that it set the sequel up to be intense and entertaining. I unfortunately could not connect with the Cabrea and Denih storyline. They didn't have any chemistry. Again, there ending could turn into something interesting in the sequel. Provided the characters are developed and the author uses the the potential drama in a way that will keep you on your toes, the sequel will be a good addition to her collection.

Born Bratva Series Books 1 & 2

Glazov & Glazov's Legacy
 by Suzanne Steele
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Glazov Glazov's Legacy

SYNOPSIS

A dark twisted tale of obsession, kidnapping, abduction, and two people who fall into a very unconventional love.

Glazov is a man who will stop at nothing to obtain the woman he has set his sights on. The biggest mistake of Kathleen’s life was drawing the attention of a Born Bratva Pakhan. He’s ruthless, deadly and he’s not about to take no for an answer.

Glazov has been immersed in criminal activity from the day he was born. He was bred for the sole purpose of carrying on his father's reign of terror. He was born into the world of Bratva, and he would die in Bratva. It was his destiny.
He learned how to spot a fighter from a very early age and Kathleen had that fighting spirit inside of her. He wasn't sure what her story was, but she piqued his curiosity. In his gut he also knew he had left his mark on her. She would never be the same, never recover from unwittingly drawing his attention.

This is dark romance and there are elements of blackmail and kidnapping within the story lines. Glazov and Novak are cousins, in their minds: They are born Bratva. And they will die Bratva.

BOOK REVIEW
The author did a good job of creating an interesting character in Glazov.  He was hard and unrelenting and undecidely all Alpha male.

Pros-interesting protagonist, good flow and structure, erotic scenes were well done
Cons- narrator could have been a bit more dominant, the progression of the relationship was confusing
I enjoyed the series for the most part. The audio production was done well. You can secure your own copy of both books here and don't forget to leave the review. There are atleast nine books total so don't wait to get started.

BOOK REVIEW
This was a fantastic short novel. The characters were interesting. Jimmy's backstory was sad and interesting. The story was developed and well organized. Not Mine to Keep

Not Mine to Keep Not Mine to Keep by Shawn Taye
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

SYNOPSIS
Having hit a rocky point in his marriage, Darnell decided to seek comfort in someone other than his wife. In turn, his decision to have one night of pleasure has caused an avalanche of events not only for himself but for everyone involved. Just when he chose to end it, he finds out that he has gotten more than he bargained for. Now he has to put the pieces of his marriage back together, but will it be too late?

BOOK REVIEW
This in my opinion was a solid debut novel. The author did a great job of developing the characters and their intimate involvement. The story moved very well. It was a really good depiction of what could happen when you communication and respect are not first and foremost in any relationship whether it be with yourself or a partner. Taye also touched on elements of abuse in relationships and its effects. I think this cautionary tale will appeal to many. You can get your copy here and don't forget to leave a review.

Web of Deceit - Book 2: A Naomi Reed Novella

Web of Deceit - Book 2: A Naomi Reed Novella

Web of Deceit - Book 2: A Naomi Reed Novella Web of Deceit - Book 2: A Naomi Reed Novella by J.B. Jefferson
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

SYNOPSIS
in book two of the Web of Deceit series, there’s no slowing down Naomi Reed and her ultimate quest for sexual freedom. Although she continues cheating on her husband Wiliam and outwitting Darius, the Private Investigator William hired to catch her, she begins to test the limits of her luck. Not only is Darius persistent in exposing the truth about Naomi, but her long-time play thing Josh has abandoned the rules of their arrangement and professed love for her that she can’t and won’t reciprocate.

No matter how good the sex is with Josh, Naomi has no plans on leaving William. However, Josh is finally standing his ground by demanding more from her than just a hookup; which is a big issue. She can’t risk Josh single-handedly dismantling her marriage because he caught feelings. She also can't let a two-bit PI like Darius ruin her chances of getting her $2 million prenuptial endowment before her 6th wedding anniversary. In her mind, it seems all the men in her life have created a huge mess of things and it's up to her to fix it...and fast!

Naomi devises a wild and crazy plan to get Josh to back off a bit and give her time to deal with getting Darius off her trail. She’s completely impressed with the plan she devises to secure the $2 million while at the same time gaining a major account for Talk’s Talk magazine. The plan is risky and involves coming face-to-face with Darius, but she’s confident that her persuasiveness and ultimate planning will prevail both personally and professionally.

What Naomi doesn’t expect is that this time, Darius is two steps ahead of her and Josh is seriously starting to question his involvement in their twisted relationship. Naomi has no idea that her perfect world is unraveling one lie at a time

BOOK REVIEW
The author did a good job of keeping up the cat and mouse game between Naomi and the detectives. Naomi having lady luck on her side stayed two steps ahead of the detective thanks to a mutual acquaintance.
The story still had relevant content, was well structured and edited superbly. I would have liked better plot movement to have occurred in this installment to propel the story forward and for it to be a little less wordy. I did find myself skimming passages, because they didn't appear relevant to the story. There were scenes i.e. the golfing scene between Richard and William that I didn't feel added any value to the story. Will it become relevant in book 3? I am hoping that in book 3 the author will add significant movement to this intriguing story.  You can get your copy here and don't forget to leave a review.

Web of Deceit - Book 1: A Naomi Reed Novella Web of Deceit - Book 1: A Naomi Reed Novella by J.B. Jefferson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

SYNOPSIS
Naomi Reed has a sexual appetite that no one man can please. Married to one of Las Vegas’ most powerful attorneys, she finds herself constantly looking for ways to feed her insatiable need and want of a good sexual encounter. With her undeniably beautiful and exotic looks, she has no problem attracting both men and women to satisfy her every whim.

Despite being an undercover sex addict, Naomi is one of the top salespeople at Talks Talk magazine where she meets an impressionable and totally enamored mailroom clerk with whom she lives out any and all the sexual fantasies she desires...no questions asked.

Naomi is living her best double life until a minor mishap makes her husband question her fidelity. He calls on his long-time friend Darius, who owns a well-renowned private investigative firm, to help him prove his gut feeling is right: his wife is cheating on him. William doesn’t have much time to figure it all out though. Based on their prenup, if he can’t prove Naomi’s been unfaithful by the time they reach their 6th wedding anniversary, she’ll be entitled to $2 million, no questions asked.

Both William and Naomi have a lot to lose, but she’s not willing to abandon her secret life, not even for her beloved William. Accustomed to getting anything she puts her mind to; Naomi thinks she can have her cake and eat it too. But can she continue her Web of Deceit and outwit a professional like Darius while hiding her secret affair from her street-smart husband?

BOOK REVIEW
The story opens with a steamy scene that sets the tone for the book. Jefferson proceeds to introduce us to our protagonist, Naomi, a successful professional married woman with bit of sex addiction. She has no idea that her husband of 5 years suspects that she has been unfaithful and he sets out to to proof his assumption right.
Jefferson takes great care in delivering well thought out and stimulating physical scenes that may leave you in need of ......well you'll have to read it to find out. The use of providing very descriptive imagery in each and every scene goes along way in making the reader feel a part of the story. However, you have to be careful to not to send the reader into sensory overload with the describing every single detail in a scene. This may result in a reader skipping passages. I would have liked to know why Naomi was described as having a sex addiction or been privy to the actions that led to that description. Maybe it will come in book two?

All in all, there was good character and storyline development. The story flows well.
The content is relevant and the editing was superb. I have yet to come across a manuscript that had no errors, but I digress. Jefferson does a great job of creating tension and the necessary heat to hold your interest and finish this tale in one sitting. This erotic drama ends on a tension filled note. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting something interesting and steamy. You can get your copy here and don't forget to leave a review.

Break Me Off Break Me Off by A. Nicole
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

SYNOPSIS
For Tokyo, it was never in her plans to fall in love with her brother's best friend Quincy, but it was almost impossible from his suave personality and good looks. While Quincy isn't afraid to act on the mutual feelings he's developed for Tokyo, she's still afraid and comes up with excuse after excuse as to why they can't be together.
Sneaking behind his best friend's back has become old for Quincy, but Tokyo isn't trying to hear it.
Will she finally get it together and tell her brother, or will she keep sneaking around out of fear of what her brother might say?

BOOK REVIEW
This was a quick romantic read. The author did a good job of setting up the tale. The characters were developed. The story moved swiftly and well.  I was curious as to why Tokyo was so deathly afraid of telling her brother who she was involved with. I would recommend this story to anyone short on time, but in need of a little romance and spice.  You can get your copy here and don't forget to leave a review.

Halloween Date from Hell Halloween Date from Hell by Pamela Campbell
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

SYNOPSIS
Deja is having a hard time getting over a breakup. She agrees to let her friend, Lisa, set her up on a blind date for their company Halloween party.
Lisa asked her new neighbor, Tyler, to be Deja’s date for the Halloween party. Unfortunately, Lisa had no way of knowing that the date she chose for her best friend was a serial killer.
This Halloween party serves as a great opportunity for Tyler to not only kill his date, but other victims as well. Who will be the one to put an end to Tyler’s killing spree?

BOOK REVIEW
Well so much for blind dates. The author did a good job of creating the protagonist and giving us a credible backstory. Campbell did not make her readers wait long for the action to begin. I liked the methodical way Tyler handled each victim. There was a lot of graphic detail, but it was necessary to tell the story. This was a good Halloween read. The Panty Ripper I

The Panty Ripper I

The Panty Ripper I The Panty Ripper I by Reality Way
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

SYNOPSIS
Reality Way introduces to the world Omar Goodness better known as The Panty Ripper. Omar has it all smarts, the looks and plenty of money in his bank account. The one thing he's lacking is a woman that he can call his own. That is until he meets a woman that he can't seem to get off his mind. Omar is willing to get his dream girl by any means necessary even if that means he has to get down and dirty. He's even willing to break a few laws or bones if necessary. Will Omar get the woman of his dreams or will his reputation of being a panty ripping sex machine get in the way of his happily ever after?

BOOK REVIEW

Omar was definitely a beast and loved giving a good oral presentation. The drawback to that is he was a hot commodity to all the ladies who were in need. The author definitely knew how to grab a reader's attention and with Cary Hite giving voice to the characters there was no way this was not going to be a spicy read. This was a short work of fiction, but it packed a hot- sometimes comical- punch. The storyline was developed. The drama was high and the story flowed well. I'll be honest and say that the narrator is probably what made the story as good as it was for me.  The delivery and audio production were well done. Girl Gone Home
Twisted Crime Book 3
by Kathleen O' Donnell
Genre: Psychological Thriller

The Best Book I've Read This Year! I just finished it and I loved it! It has more twists and turns than a roller coaster. This book would make an amazing movie, but the book will always be better. I can't wait to see what she writes next! – Rena, five-star review on Amazon.

From two-time Book of the Year finalist and Thriller of the Year Award winner Kathleen O’Donnell comes a gripping psychological thriller filled with quirky, unexpected twists.

A girl in serious trouble

Delilah Diamond had it all, the popular cooking show, a dream house, and a great romance with her producer, until the producer’s wife gets wind of it all. Delilah loses her show, her job, and her house. She’s forced to go back to her hometown where everyone has skeletons in their closet—or worse.

A home not like any other

She arrives just in time for the unfortunate death of her high school crush, but senses something's wrong with the story of his demise. Before she realizes it, she's knee-deep in a past that almost crushed her years before, and could very well crush her now, for good.

A mother who keeps sordid secrets

Local law enforcement is a homegrown drunk, and useless, so someone higher up the food chain sends a big city detective who starts sniffing around her classmate's suspicious death and her mother’s past. Delilah’s protective hackles are raised. She knows her mother has shameful secrets, but the more she learns, the more she realizes she doesn’t know the whole story.

A hometown that comes together, even in crime

In small towns, you protect your family and your neighbors come what may, but will Delilah be able to protect her mother without exposing her own sins? The ones she worked so hard to cover up? Will she be able to deter the detective away from the truth?

You can't go home again. Or can you? Should you? How safe is home when you know where the bodies are buried?

Girl Gone Home is ultimately a story about love, family, loyalty and circling the wagons no matter what terrible crime's been committed. It’s quirky, heartfelt, and reminiscent of Dolores Claiborne and the works of Kate Atkinson, Jane Hamilton, and Janet Evanovich.

Genre: Memoir    Pages: 293   Publisher: Amazon Digital Services

DESCRIPTION
Jessica Hardy grew up in a small mid-South town as the oldest of five children. From her earliest memory, she chaffed at the strict religious beliefs of her parents. College and the people she met there opened her eyes to the greater world and she embraced it with her whole being. But that wasn’t the answer she sought. Only the freedom that came in her relationship with Parker Grant satisfied her need to feel autonomous. But then it didn’t.

Like many women coming of age in the late 1960s, Jessica hardly understood the forces that drove her. Powerless to deny her instinctive quest for independence, she would soon suffer the guilt and social condemnation that befell so many young women as they forged a new path of liberation. Her determination to share her shocking and painful story speaks to her hope for current and future generations of women.

Release Day Blitz-Mind In Chains by Bruce M. Perrin

Tuesday, November 05, 2019
Mind In Chains by Bruce M. Perrin
Published November 4, 2019
Mystery/Thriller/Suspense

Synopsis:

It was spring in the Midwest and the perfect storm was brewing.

A scientist of considerable renown, Dr. James Conroy, Jr., was leading a grassroots movement to improve access to medical treatment in the United States. At the same time, a group known as the Crusaders for Common Sense was rallying around the cry, “Stop Playing God with Medicine.” Claiming that medical science merely maintained the body while the soul rotted from within, they stood opposed to Conroy—violently opposed.

Like most residents of St. Louis, Missouri, Sam “Doc” Price and Nicole Veles watched in horror as the violence escalated. But after a noted medical researcher was attacked at Nicole’s apartment, she and Doc were plunged into a world of domestic terrorism.
Doc found an unlikely ally in FBI Special Agent Rebecca Marte. Together, they tried to make sense of the Crusaders’ actions that defied all logic. The terrorists showed no fear of identification—or even death. In the end, Doc risked everything he loved in a final, deadly gambit with the Crusaders, only to find that the cost of his ploy might be more than he was willing to pay.

Excerpt:

Seven years before the events described in the book and Nurse Martha Wilson has discovered a missing newborn:

As they turned into the wing with the nursery, Martha slowed and turned to Jorge. “They’ll find her, won’t they?” Jorge said nothing for a moment, so she added, “The truth.”

Jorge sighed. “I can’t really say. Is there an angry ex-spouse somewhere? A childless neighbor? All I know is that the police will run down every lead before they give up.”

“But if it’s not friends or family?” Martha asked although she thought she knew the answer.

“Then you’ve done everything you could. Getting this on the air in 20 minutes is a good start; the first few hours are the most important. After that, the chances start going down fast. And after a few days ….” He shook his head but didn’t finish.

Martha shuddered and squeezed her eyes closed. These were facts she had heard before, but they had been only meaningless statistics at the time. Now, they tore at her heart, the pain worsening with each tick of her mental clock.

Two hours later, after meeting with the local police who had no news about Baby Jane Doe, Martha couldn’t control her emotions any longer. She started sobbing.

Six hours later, the interviews were complete, and Martha took a taxi home, afraid to trust her driving. She went to bed, hardly speaking to her husband. The next day, she called in sick. And the day after. And the day after that.

To Martha, the news was always the same. There were no ex-spouses. The neighbors either had children or were retired with their children now raising their own. Video cameras had caught the comings and goings from the maternity wing at the hospital, but everyone belonged. Simply put, there were no suspects, and the trail, if there ever had been one, was ice cold.

After ten days passed and there was no news about Baby Jane Doe, Martha went to work only to resign. She couldn’t face another expectant mother, knowing she had lost a human life left in her care.

About the Author:

Bruce Perrin has been writing for more than twenty-five years, although you will find most of that work only in professional technical journals or conference proceedings.  After receiving a PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and completing a career in psychological research and development at a major aerospace company, he’s now applying his background to writing novels.  Not surprisingly, most of his work falls in the techno-thriller, mystery, and hard science fiction genres, examining the intersection of technology and the human mind now and in the future.  Besides writing, Bruce likes to tinker with home automation and is an avid hiker, logging nearly 2,500 miles a year in the first six years of Fitbit ownership.  When he is not on the trails, he lives with his wife in St. Louis, MO.

About

Recent controversy aside, a date sees a report as a tactful check. Their file was, in this moment, a succinct panther. A gondola is a cristate bail. An unfree kimberly is a drive of the mind. Authors often misinterpret the buzzard as a cocky gate, when in actuality it feels more like a printed wall.
